NRCC Names Nothstein a Young Gun

OREFIELD, Pa. -- The Republican National Congressional Committee has added Olympic champion Marty Nothstein to its “Young Guns” program, raising the profile of the race for the U.S. House in the 7th Congressional District.

Created by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, the “Young Guns” program offers expanded fundraising and party support for congressional candidates who have met benchmarks in fundraising and campaign messaging.

“This is exciting news because it means national Republican leaders see the campaign in the Lehigh Valley as strongly competitive, and Marty as a top-tier candidate,” said campaign manager Charlie O’Neill.

Nothstein, a two-time Olympic medalist and Lehigh County Commissioner, has continued to show momentum in his campaign to succeed retired Rep. Charlie Dent. He won a hotly contested primary in May and has since moved to unify the party behind his message of practical solutions and results-based leadership.

“Clearly, my message of a new generation of leadership with common sense, results-driven solutions, is getting wider attention and support,” Nothstein said. “I’m determined to be the voice of the people in this region, and will work tirelessly to make certain this area receives the attention to which it’s entitled and the future our children deserve.”
